Read our Inclusion Statement & Commitment

It is important to us that we honor the space we occupy and the people that came before us. Our office sits within the traditional homeland of the Nacotchtank (Anacostan) and the Piscataway, a state-recognized tribe of Maryland.

Our Mission

We create equitable healing and dignified experiences for survivors of crime by providing free, trauma-informed advocacy, therapeutic, and legal services in conjunction with strategic litigation, policy advocacy, and education to transform existing responses to harm.

Our Legal Services

Staff attorneys assist survivors in civil protection orders (CPO), Title IX & Clery Act and criminal cases. Regardless of the type of case, our attorneys can provide brief advice and/or full-representation in a free, holistic and trauma-informed way.

SURVIVORS OF CRIME OFTEN SAY THAT THE LEGAL SYSTEM CAUSES REVICTIMIZATIONS THAT ARE OFTEN HARDER TO RECOVER FROM THAN THE CRIME ITSELF.

At NVRDC, we want to break that cycle.
