SURVIVOR SUPPORT FUND (SSF)

Survivors of crime often face many obstacles in their journey towards recovery, including financial barriers that prevent their access to resources, opportunities and support. NVRDC created the Survivor Support Fund (SSF) to provide supplemental funding to clients that are navigating the aftermath of a crime. From helping clients get groceries, to day care assistance and changing locks, our Survivor Support Fund hopes to provide support when survivors feel like they have nowhere else to turn.

Thank you for supporting DC survivors via the Survivor Support Fund!

The total disbursements paid out to survivors from the Survivor Support Fund was $2,292.75 in FY20. More than half of our Survivor Support Fund disbursements in FY20 were contributed by the Greater Washington Community Foundation.

FAMILY MEMORIAL FUND (FMF):

This NVRDC fund is dedicated to our clients that are family members of victims of homicide that are mourning the death of a loved one. In the face of trauma experienced from loss, the last thing a person needs is the added stress of paying for afterlife arrangements. In many cases, Crime Victims’ Compensation (CVC) does not cover the costs incurred from a death.

To that end, NVRDC has established the Family Memorial Fund (FMF) to help lighten the load in the lives of family members and alleviate undue stresses caused by finances. A gift of $1,000 can have a major impact on the experience a family has in saying goodbye to someone they have lost due to a violence crime.

Thank you for supporting the NVRDC Family Memorial Fund (FMF). We are so grateful!
